A little bit of news . . .

Wow! The summer is slipping by so quickly. I can't believe that school is just about a month away. We've been super busy fitting in all the fun activities. Beth needs to do something each day. If we don't, she is very disappointed, but I think that we are going to slow down some now, and spend some time at home, focusing on crafts and hanging out. Especially since it is going to just get hotter and hotter.

Rob has been home on Fridays, since they went to a flex schedule for the summer. It has been good and bad. He is exhausted after work Monday through Thursday, but he is home on Fridays. It gives him a little extra chance to hang out with us, and a lot of time to work on his projects. He got a new grill last weekend and has cooked four meals for us, and plans to do more. The last two have been in the pouring rain. It's been great to have someone else on dinner duty.

Jacob starts speech therapy this week. He is behind in his language skills, and so we are trying to do early intervention, so he will catch up before he starts school. He has always been super quiet, and doesn't make a lot of sounds. But he started vocalizing a bit more in June, and now he has few sounds he uses for words. He is very interested in the world around him, and seems to get what is going on. The speech therapist wants us to get him further evaluated, so we will in August.

Caleb is doing well. He is still wanting to get all of the bad guys. And he is practicing all kind of flips that he has invented. Every day he wakes up and tells me a story of what happened last night. I've learned things I didn't know about places all over the world. And if I try to explain how things really work, Caleb holds up his hand waves it in front of me, ducks his head and says "No, no, no." In fact Rob has picked up on that saying as well.

Me, I'm doing all right. I went to the neurologist again about my tumor. Just a check up. I don't have to go back for a year to see her, but I've got a follow up with the neurosurgeon in six months to see what's happened to the tumor if it is still growing or what. The pain has changed, but we will see what's going on then. In the meantime, I am going to focus on losing some weight, and balancing my life.

Back from Vacation

In more ways than one, I'm back from vacation. I had a great trip out to Utah to visit the family. The kids had a great time and were very spoiled by the aunts and uncles. I wanted to blog about it, but Rob beat me to it.

It was a busy May with Beth finishing up school. In June we squeezed in a trip to the beach with the Caldwell side before we went out west. Now we are just getting through the summer. The kids have something to do every day of the week! It is wearing me out.

Recently I packed up most of the kids' toys. I was tired of the mess and the fights. I wanted to see what would happen, and wow! Less really is more. They are keeping their room clean, and the fights have virtually stopped. We are going to make the change permanent. Now what to do with what we are getting rid of ?

Well that's about it for now!
